- Did you know Goji berries are known as a super food?. Yes!, they are super high in antioxidants and all kinds of nutrients. Some say they help boost your immune system, fight off live disease, anti-aging properties just to name a few. You can eat them raw but normally you want to dry them for best flavor. Surprisingly, one of our easiest to grow plants!. A must have in any garden!!!.
- Goji Berry Growing Tips:
- Best time to plant: Anytime of the year.
- Sun: Full sun anywhere in the U.S. It doesn't grow well in the shade.
- Winter: No winter protection unless you're in zone below 6.
- Root system: Deep roots and sends suckers all over.
- Growth structure: This is naturally a shrub. Normally it will grow up to about 4-8ft.
- Fruiting: This plant will usually flower within 1-3 years after planting.
- Watering: Water frequently its first summer in ground. As the plant gets older, do let the soil dry a bit more in between watering and increase the length of time you water. While this plant is drought tolerant, don't expect amazing growth/fruits if you don't water.
- Pollination: Self-Pollinating. But will yield more fruit when given partners :).
- Fertilization: In containers, any slow release fertilizer will work. In ground, compost and mulch is all you will ever need. No special fertilizers needed.
- Container Grown: This plant does ok in a pot short term. Long term growing we recommend to plant in ground.
- Personal Growing Tip: Once you plant this tree in ground, no top growth is normal until the tree roots in ground. The rooting process can take 1 year+ depending on your local night temperatures. Hot=It Grows faster, Cold=It grows slower. Another tip is to NOT let it fully dry in the sun its first year in ground. It will wilt and die quick!. This is how most people kill them simply because everywhere online shows them and drought tolerant...
